Enrolment in Coláiste Chiaráin is guided by the Admissions
Policy. The procedure is as follows:
September/October – Open Evening takes place
to allow members of the community to come and view our facilities.
They also have the opportunity to speak with students and
teachers.
November – The Principal visits the local
primary schools to speak with the 6th class students.
Enrolment forms are distributed to our ‘feeder’ primary schools.
Parents of children outside these schools can visit our school to
fill in an ’expression of interest’ form. Enrolment forms will be
distributed to these parents after local students have been
enrolled and on a first come basis.
December – On the first Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday in December parents attend Coláiste Chiaráin to enrol
their children.
February – Entrance test will take place on
first Saturday in February. Families will be notified of this by
post. This test is used to guide our planning. Classes in Coláiste
Chiaráin are mixed ability.
April/May – Meeting for parents of incoming
1st years. This meeting is presented by the Year Heads,
Chaplain, Special Needs Coordinator, Deputy Principal and
Principal. During this period the 6th class students
from the local primary schools will visit the school in the company
of some of our senior (Gluais) students.
